Matthew founded MJW after working as a systems engineer for various companies across broadcast, government, entertainment, defence, and music industries. His diverse technical background has given him a unique perspective on solving complex challenges across different sectors.
After establishing himself as an independent consultant, Matthew has built MJW into a collaborative team where everyone contributes their strengths. He remains hands-on across all areas – from consulting and development to HR, finance, and communications – fostering the company’s relaxed but focused culture where great work and strong client relationships are at the heart of everything they do.
His journey into CiviCRM began somewhat serendipitously through an implementation for a caving club. What drew him in wasn’t just the technology, but the community – and he’s been heavily involved in the CiviCRM ecosystem ever since, contributing to a platform that helps organisations achieve their missions more effectively.
Outside of work, Matt’s true passion is cave exploration, a pursuit that has fundamentally shaped his approach to life and problem-solving. Whether navigating underground passages or complex technical challenges, he brings the same methodical, adventurous spirit to everything he does.
Sarah | Account, Support & Development manager
As the Account, Support, and Development Manager at MJW, she bring over eight years of dedicated experience to every project (three of those here at MJW). She thrives on ensuring our clients’ success, from implementing and updating robust WordPress and Drupal 10 websites to seamlessly integrating and optimising CiviCRM. Her days are filled with problem-solving, building custom forms, generating insightful reports, and meeting with clients to provide the essential support and account management our clients depend on.
Beyond the digital realm, you’ll often find her in her food garden – a passion that mirrors her professional approach to nurturing projects from seed to fruition. And if you ever spot a colourful array in the background of her video calls, that’s likely her ever-growing Lego collection, a testament to their appreciation for meticulous design and creative building. She is also proud to actively collaborate with the open CiviCRM community, ensuring we always bring the latest innovations to our work.
Jade | Developer
Jade joined MJW with a strong foundation in front-end development and a growing passion for backend work. Having worked with CiviCRM since 2018, she was drawn not just to the software itself, but to the collaborative, open-source community surrounding it as well as the meaningful impact it enables for organisations, particularly non-profits.
Originally brought into the team as the go-to theme developer, Jade quickly became a key part of MJW’s design and frontend offering. From building accessible, responsive themes to helping shape user experiences, her work ensures that the work we do doesn’t just function well – it looks and feels right too.
One of the things Jade values most at MJW is the tight-knit, collaborative team environment. Having come from a larger workplace, she appreciates how closely the team works together as well as with clients, to solve problems and deliver tools that genuinely make a difference.
Outside of work, Jade is an active game streamer and occasionally hosts charity streams. She is also passionate about indie games and game development, offering support to creators and dabbling in development herself. That creative background brings a fresh perspective to her problem-solving and an appreciation for thoughtful, user-first design.
